The SBEP (Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership) kick-off meeting, held at the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) in Madrid on the 25th and 26th of September 2024, provided a platform for projects to present their work plans, objectives, and expected impacts, with the aim to foster connections among peers and identify potential synergies and complementarities between projects.
Represented by Marta Martínez Sanz, Patricia López Sánchez, Miguel Ángel Herrero Ramiro, and Vera Cebrián Lloret, the SEAFOODTURE team shared their vision of utilizing underexploited seaweed species to create high-quality food products and packaging materials. Seaweeds, rich in proteins and dietary fibers, hold immense potential, and SEAFOODTURE aims to fully harness their value by utilizing the entire biomass. The project embraces sustainable cultivation and green processing techniques to ensure minimal environmental impact while producing protein-rich solutions for food applications.
The SBEP meeting fostered networking among participants, offering SEAFOODTURE the opportunity to connect with other like-minded projects and explore potential synergies. The collaborative spirit of the event promises to enhance the impact of SEAFOODTURE and its contribution to a more sustainable future for the seaweed and seafood industries.
